GiltEdge is an independent financial planning and forecasting tool available on a subscription basis. We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
This application operates strictly as a non-advisory tool. It calculates tax and cashflow outcomes from the data you provide, but it does not provide personalised investment advice, financial planning advice, tax advice, or any other form of regulated financial service under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA).
*No Recommendations:** This app does not recommend, endorse, or advise on the suitability of any specific financial product, account type, or tax wrapper.
*User-Driven Inputs:** All forecasts are generated based entirely on the asset values, income, and parameters that you manually input.
*Independent Research:** Nothing contained within the app or our marketing materials should be construed as an offer, solicitation, or recommendation to buy or sell any financial instrument.

GiltEdge's engine models UK tax in real detail — including the personal allowance taper for incomes over £100,000, National Insurance, and a per-holder calculation that taxes you and a partner separately where relevant. The limitations below describe what's genuinely simplified or not yet covered, not the whole picture.
*Currency:** All inputs, variables, and projections are processed strictly in UK Pounds (£).
*Growth Rates:** Universal default growth rates provided within the app serve as flat baseline benchmarks for broad illustration only. They do not represent market forecasts, guaranteed returns, or economic predictions, and they should be overridden by you to reflect your own expectations.
*Capital Gains Tax (CGT):** Automated CGT estimates apply flat rates of either 18% or 24%, based on a tax band calculated from your actual modelled income and gains for the year — not a band you declare yourself. The engine does not calculate complex split-band liabilities, where a single gain straddles multiple tax thresholds within one calculation. Gains are estimated as a fixed proportion of an asset's value rather than tracked against your actual original purchase price (no cost-basis tracking).
*Tax Exemptions:** The calculation logic automatically subtracts the current statutory individual Annual Exempt Amount (£3,000) for the current tax year. It assumes this allowance is fully available to you and has not been utilised on external assets or investments not tracked within this app.
*Inheritance Tax (IHT):** GiltEdge shows a basic warning comparing your projected estate value against the current nil-rate bands. This is not full IHT planning — gifting, the seven-year rule, spousal nil-rate-band transfer, and trust structures are not modelled.
*Excluded Liabilities:** This tool does not account for historical capital losses, Property Capital Gains Tax, or localised tax variations (for example, Scottish Income Tax rates).

UK tax legislation, Individual Savings Account (ISA) allowances, and pension regulations are highly complex and subject to frequent legislative change by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and the UK government.
* Projections are generic simulations based on rules active at the time of calculation and do not guarantee future real-world tax outcomes or portfolio performance.
* We do not provide automated push notifications, threshold alerts, or real-time legal updates. You are entirely responsible for monitoring your own tax liabilities.
